SIDE
Handedness refers to the handedness of the stick's blade. If a player plays with their left hand lower, their handedness is LEFT. If a player plays with their right hand lower, their handedness is RIGHT. Most players play with their left hand lower, i.e., LEFT-sided.
STICK LENGTH
A stick of the correct length makes ball handling easier and creates a natural playing posture. The appropriate stick length is between the navel and the sternum. A longer stick provides reach but can make ball control more difficult. A shorter stick, on the other hand, makes ball handling easier but provides less reach. Here is a guideline table for choosing shaft length:
| Player height | Stick shaft length |
| 100 cm | < 65 cm |
| 100 - 120 cm | 65 - 75 cm |
| 120 - 140 cm | 70 - 85 cm |
| 140 - 160 cm | 80 - 96 cm |
| 160 - 175 cm | 90 - 101 cm |
| 175 cm - | 96 - 104 cm |
SHAFT STIFFNESS (FLEX)
Stick stiffness refers to the flexibility of the shaft. Stick stiffness is expressed in millimeters (mm). Each stick has a number indicating the shaft stiffness, usually between 23-34 mm. The smaller the number, the stiffer the shaft. More flexible shafts make ball handling and shooting easier, which is why softer shafts are recommended for juniors and beginners. For stronger players, however, a stiffer shaft may work better.
Stiff (23–26 mm)
Stiff (23–26 mm)
Optimal for strong adult players who shoot a lot and hard. Requires technique and power.
Normal (27–29 mm)
Normal (27–29 mm)
Suitable for most male players and competitive female players. A good compromise between power and feel.
Soft (30–36 mm)
Soft (30–36 mm)
Best choice for juniors, women, and beginners. A soft shaft helps in learning shooting technique and receiving passes.
BLADE
A player's playing style most significantly influences blade selection. The most important characteristics of a blade are its hardness/material, curve, and concavity. The more curved and concave the blade, the easier it is to shoot with. A straighter blade, on the other hand, is better for passing and playmaking. Blades can also be curved by heating the blade and shaping it to the desired form. According to the rules, a blade can be curved by a maximum of 3cm. The blade, like the grip, is a consumable part that you can replace yourself by removing the screws. Pay attention to the grooves at the bottom of the blade, which lock the blade at the correct angle.
GRIP
The grip refers to the tape-like part of the stick's handle surface, which provides good hold for stick handling. Grips come in various options regarding grip, thickness, weight, and color. The best way to find a suitable grip is by experimenting. Playing and sweating wear down the grip's hold, which is why it's good to replace the grip periodically.
